Clinical Nursing
Clinical Nursing, provides assessment and general observation of patients for collection of relevant data in order to ensure protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities; through prevention of illness and injury; alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses; and advocacy in health care for individuals, families, communities, and the general population.
CORE FUNCTIONS OF CLINICAL NURSING
- Provides assessment and general observation of patients for collection of relevant data in order to ensure protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities`
- Prepare plan of care for patients’ response to ill-health using nursing process and standardized Nursing Languages
- Utilizing an evidence base Nursing Intervention in practice (where evidence exists) and quality improvement processes, to provide the highest attainable standard of care
- Psycho-pharmacologic management in collaboration with psychiatrist; Analyzing and administering prescribed medication and therapy
- Ensures handing/taking over of patients, using prescribed nursing language and standard
- Provide invaluable emotional support and safety for the patients and assist in Activities of Daily Living when needed
- Advocates for and garner trust with patients to improve the quality of care rendered
- Educate patient and care giver on best health practice and behaviour that promote health and prevents relapse and stigma
- Maintaining good interpersonal relationship within all health workers, clients and their relations
- Liaising with doctors, psychologists, social workers and other professionals in ensuring quality care and services to the clients and their relatives
- Perform or recommend age-appropriate screening procedures and monitor common health care problems, as well as recommending referral for special medical treatment as needed
- Highlighting and Assessing patients’ treatment success at case conferences and meetings
- Writing and updating patient records
- Encouraging patients to take part in therapeutic activities such as art and role play
- Use technology to innovate and care for patients and keep communities healthy
